The Right Wine Glasses

Wine glasses come in many shapes and sizes. Some wine glasses are more appropriate for red wine and some for white wine. So, how do you know which wine glass is proper for a particular wine?

Instructions
  1.
Choose your WINE. Depending on the type of wine you decide to drink, you can then decide which glass is appropriate.
  2.
    Red Wine Glass

If you choose a RED WINE, the larger wine glasses are appropriate. The larger bowl at the bottom of the glass allows the drinker to swirl the glass. Due to the more complex nature of red wine, the larger glass allows the wine to aerate and release the flavor and aromas.
  3.
    White Wine Glass
If you choose a WHITE WINE, the thinner smaller wine glasses are preferred. Unlike red wine, white wines are intended to drink chilled. The narrow bowl at the bottom allows the wine to stay cooler longer. The glass should be held by the stem to prevent heat transfer.
  4.
If you are drinking SPARKLING WINE, a champagne flute is the best choice. The flute is a thin, taller shaped glass and is used for carbonated wine, like champagne or cava. The narrow top helps prevent the carbonation, or bubbles, from escaping.
